The GB Para Powerlifting squad delivered an exceptional performance at the 2026 WPPO European Open Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In a remarkable showcase of strength and determination, all members of the team produced incredible lifts, secured multiple medals, and set new records on the bench.

 

Josh was one of the competition’s standout stars on his debut, achieving a phenomenal best lift of 137kg. His performance earned him gold in both the Best Lift and Total categories, while also setting new European and World records.

Finlay delivered a powerful 168kg best lift, claiming silver in the Best Lift category and gold in Total, highlighting his consistency and elite-level performance.

Olivia added to the team’s success with a 120kg best lift, securing gold in Best Lift and silver in Total, bringing home two European Championship medals.

The strength across the squad was evident, with Lottie lifting 108kg to secure a European bronze medal, Sean recording 146kg and gaining valuable international competition experience on the European stage, and Mattie achieving an impressive 197kg lift to earn silver in the Best Lift category.

Mark rounded off the competition in spectacular fashion, successfully lifting 220kg to set a new European record. He then confidently called the same weight again for a further power lift attempt, demonstrating both ambition and resilience.

These extraordinary performances not only highlight the talent within the GB Para Powerlifting team but also shine a spotlight on the strength and impact of DSAuk athletes on the international stage.
