DSAuk members delivered an outstanding series of performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, showcasing determination, resilience and world-class talent across para powerlifting and para swimming.

The action got underway in spectacular fashion in the para powerlifting competition, where Mark Swan made history by claiming the first gold medal of the Games. Competing in the men’s lightweight division, Swan produced a phenomenal 222kg lift to secure the Commonwealth title and write his name into the history books.

Fellow DSAuk member Finlay Davidson also impressed in the lightweight competition. After topping Group B with a best lift of 166kg, Davidson went on to finish an excellent fifth overall.

In the men’s heavyweight event, Matt Harding delivered an emotional performance to win the silver medal with a lift of 199kg. Harding dedicated his medal to his late father, Colin, making the achievement an especially poignant moment.

The women’s lightweight competition also featured two outstanding performances from DSAuk athletes. Olivia Broome claimed the bronze medal after producing a best lift of 119kg, adding another Commonwealth medal to her impressive international career.

Making her Commonwealth Games debut, Charlotte McGuiness impressed with a best successful lift of 105kg, earning a commendable fifth-place finish and gaining valuable experience on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Success for DSAuk extended beyond the powerlifting platform and into the swimming pool, where Bruce Dee secured a bronze medal for Team England in the Men’s 50m Freestyle S7. Dee’s podium finish capped an outstanding Games for DSAuk members and highlighted the breadth of talent within the organisation.

The performances across Glasgow underline the dedication and commitment of DSAuk athletes, coaches and support teams. From historic gold medals to inspiring personal achievements and memorable podium finishes, the Commonwealth Games have provided another proud chapter for DSAuk, with its members once again proving they can compete with the very best on the international stage.
